More than a hundred poems by local writers will be featured on some SMRT trains on the Circle, North-South and East-West lines. It's the largest display of Singapore literature, or SingLit, to the public. The featured poems are in Singapore's four official languages. Those not in English are translated, so more can appreciate their diversity. Commuters can scan QR codes to read the poems in full, which are also all available on the National Arts Council's website. Muhammad Bahajjaj reports.

Doors have opened at the Resorts World Convention Centre for one of the world's biggest e-sports tournaments. BLAST is set to host over 10,000 fans in Singapore, with more than half coming from abroad. This is the first time one of e-sports' highest-profile events is held in Singapore. All of the footage has to go from Singapore to over 150 territories across the world. It also has to be translated into 28 languages. A celebration of firsts for Singapore in a biennial report card charting the nation's progress. The latest Public Sector Outcomes Review highlights how the country fared in key areas of national interest, including jobs, family, health and security. Singapore ranked top globally in shipping, ports and logistics for six straight years. Income inequality dropped to 0.371, and support measures provided a safety net for workers and their families. Businesses are calling for work permit requirements to be expanded to allow them to source for highly skilled workers from more countries. It's part of 27 suggestions put forth by the Alliance for Action on Business Competitiveness. The alliance, which is made up of public and private sector representatives, released the report after a nine-month review. The recommendations focused on three key pillars: Manpower, land and regulations. Singapore Business Federation CEO Kok Ping Soon and Mr Keith Tan, Deputy Secretary of Industry at the Trade and Industry Ministry, shared more about their engagement sessions with business and trade leaders.

Tropical Storm Kong-rey has made landfall in China's eastern coast, bringing heavy rains and strong winds to the region, including the financial hub of Shanghai. The storm forced the closure of all ferry services in Shanghai and the suspension of several high-speed trains. Heavy downpours are expected to persist across most parts of the city. Weather officials have warned that the deluge could break November rainfall records set more than 40 years ago. Japan is next on Kong-rey's path. Tan Yew Guan reports.

US presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump have returned to battleground state Wisconsin, four days before election day. Both had earlier campaigned in the western part of the US, holding rallies in the key swing states of Arizona and Nevada. Ms Harris topped last night with a performance by celebrity Jennifer Lopez in Las Vegas, as she sought to connect with Latino voters in the final days of the race. Indian restaurants in Singapore have been better able to meet festive demand this year, following support to hire more specialised cooks. It has been a year since such restaurants were allowed to hire cooks from India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka on work permits. Still, in the long run, they are hoping that rules can be relaxed further to bring in more foreign manpower. The Manpower Ministry added Indian cooks to the non-traditional sources occupation list in March last year. 400 Indian cuisine restaurants tapped the work permit in the first three months it was rolled out.

Singapore swimmers competing at the World Cup on home turf said the experience gives them crucial exposure and confidence in the lead-up to an important year. Come 2025, the World Championships in July will also be held in Singapore, while Thailand will host the SEA Games in December. The three-day event, which runs until Saturday, will see more than 450 swimmers from 38 countries in action at the OCBC Aquatic Centre. Alif Amsyar reports.
