The calculations have been made and the decision has been reached as to who will be the team demoted from the BCA Elite competition, and in to Division One. At the conclusion of the Elite 3-day tournament on Saturday, six teams were fighting to avoid relegation with Superb Blend Gladiola and Spartan the ones in the most trouble. Speaking to CBC Sports, Manager - Marketing & Communications at the Barbados Cricket Association, Stephen Leslie, revealed that the storied club - Spartan - is being demoted. Of note is that although the SigniaGlobe Financial Barbados Youth 'A' actually finished at the bottom of the table with 29 points at an average of -19.925, and without a single win, as per the rules the last-placed team, excluding Barbados Youth, shall be relegated to the 1st Division. For the avoidance of any doubt, if the Barbados Youth is the team with the least number of points at the end of the season, the team which has placed in the position immediately above shall be relegated - so that was the fate of Spartan. Windward will replace them in the Elite Division next season. This is the first time that Spartan is being demoted from the BCA top flight. At the other end of the standings, Wanderers accumulated 97 points and has been crowned the champions of the 2024 BCA Elite 3-day competition.
