This report explores why the past two years have been challenging for traders and business people, with many pointing fingers at the taxman for imposing a tax on textiles per kilogram. However, the Uganda Revenue Authority defends the tax, arguing that it is neither unreasonable nor outrageous, as it is a global practice applied in other countries. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

Munanukye, the speaker of Mbarara District, says the deputy RDC goes around abusing the councilors, yet there are loopholes in service delivery in the district. However, when contacted by phone for comment, Kaswabuli declined to comment formally, insisting he had not been made aware of the councilors' complaints. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

Civil society organizations across Africa are urging governments to consider alternative strategies for debt restructuring, rather than relying heavily on domestic revenue mobilization, which hampers investment growth and long-term development. They are advocating for debt swaps, restructuring, and renegotiation mechanisms to ease Uganda's burden. Uganda’s national budget for the 2024/2025 fiscal year projects revenue collection at 32 trillion shillings (approximately USD 8.5 billion), yet the country’s debt servicing obligations total 34 trillion shillings (about USD 8.9 billion). This means that debt repayments exceed revenue, which will limit the financial capacity for investments. Ronah Nahabwe reports. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has expressed concern over the low turnout of domestic tourists to Kibaale National Park this year, with only 40% attendance, despite reduced tracking permit fees aimed at boosting local visitation. Known as the "primate capital of the world," Kibaale is home to over 1,500 chimpanzees and 13 other primate species. However, efforts to strengthen domestic tourism have yet to yield significant results, despite the Open Park Day campaign launched in October this year. Our reporter, DAVID IJJO, sought insights from Uganda Wildlife Authority officials on their strategies to attract more local visitors. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

A number of countries have responded to the call for wildlife conservation, leading to several success stories. This has increased the number of birds and other wildlife species in countries like Uganda, which, in turn, has posed a threat to aviation safety. While most bird strikes do not result in significant damage to airplanes or pose a fatal threat to passengers, they negatively impact biodiversity. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

Kibaale National Park, renowned as one of the world's largest primate habitats with over 1,000 chimpanzees, has grappled with increased human-wildlife conflict since its inception. Concerns have been raised by nearby communities in Kabarole, Kyenjojo, Kyegegwa, and Kasese districts, which suffer from crop destruction. Amidst this crisis, the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has actively engaged local residents through education, climate-based projects, and the construction of trap innovations such as boardwalks and trenches to prevent wildlife encroachment, as well as compensation efforts, all in a bid to demonstrate the importance of wildlife conservation.
