As many of us celebrate Christmas, there is one company that's celebrating a bit more. Tik-Tok has broken records, becoming the first non-game app to generate $10 billion in spending... and may soon become the highest-earning app ever. In this edition of our Tech Tip segment, we'll tell you more about how the video-sharing platform has de-throned others.

In less than 24 hours, Tobago's murder toll rose to 13 with a double murder recorded on the island. Dead are 33 year old Akiem Fritz of Rockley Vale, and 61 year old Frith Alleyne of Mt. Grace. According to police, at approximately 12:55am on Wednesday, officers on patrol received information that two bodies were lying in the Sherwin Williams Paints Compound in Bon Accord. Upon investigating, the bodies bearing gunshot wounds were found. A vehicle was also found on the scene, and is part of investigations. According to eyewitnesses, a vehicle drove by the group of men gathered at the location, when gunmen opened fire. The men scattered and the deceased were later found. A third person was shot and rushed to hospital for treatment.

Tyrese Spicer created history today when he became the first Trinidad and Tobago National to be drafted Number One in MLS Super Draft. The MLS is the premier football league in the United States, and Spicer was selected with the Number One pick by Toronto FC. Spicer, a pre-signed senior, joins the Canadian club after a 2023 season where 14 goals, 3 assists in 16 games helped him earn First Team All-American, Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year and MAC Hermann Trophy Semi Finalist honours. Spicer registered 29 goals, 18 assists through 57 overall appearances for Lipscomb. He is Toronto's first addition for 2024 under General Manager Jason Hernandez and Head Coach John Herdman, their new regime that's hoping to improve on a bottom-of-the-league table finish that led to Bob Bradley's departure midway through the 2023 season. The Reds scored just 26 goals last year, tied for the fewest in MLS. Meanwhile another Trinidad and Tobago player, Wayne Fredrick, was selected Number Two by the Colorado Rapids. The midfielder competed for Duke University at the collegiate level.
