Caricom leaders have thrown their support behind the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS, ABAS, during their recent presentations at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The ABAS was the outcome document from the fourth conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4), hosted by Antigua and Barbuda in May. It charts the course for the 39 SIDS around the world to achieve resilient prosperity over the next decade. Barbados’ Prime Minister, Mia Mottley and St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister, Dr Ralph Gonsalves were among those who joined Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne in calling for global support for the 10-year framework.

National youth ambassadors of Antigua and Barbuda have unveiled plans to empower their peers and address worrying issues faced by some young people. One of these projects includes a decryption programme. This aims to teach soft skills such as communication and aims to reduce substance use and abuse. National Youth Ambassador Jahmaal Frederick says there is also a plan for a Schools' Parliament debate.

Three Clare Hall Secondary students were still being questioned by police late Friday afternoon, after a second-form student was allegedly spotted with a gun on the compound mid-morning Friday. There was another defeat for Antigua and Barbuda on Thursday at the ECCB International Netball Series in St. Lucia. The Antiguans went under 56-31against Cayman Islands. Hours earlier, goal-shooter Reyana Regis was in high-scoring form as Antigua & Barbuda crushed Anguilla. Jack Matthew reports.

The wholesale price of locally-produced eggs will be $13.00 per dozen for the next 45 days. Members of the cabinet gathered on Wednesday to consider a report by Agriculture Minister, Hon. Anthony Smith Jr on the matter. He is chairing a working group appointed by cabinet to review the proposed wholesale price increase on locally produced eggs. Following a meeting of this working group with representatives from the Layer Farmers Association, an agreement was reached to work collaboratively to facilitate an in-depth review and analysis of the pricing of locally produced eggs. St Lucia’s double Olympic medalist Julien Alfred has returned home to a rapturous welcome at the Hewanorra International Airport. Alfred won the 100 meters and claimed silver in the 200m at the Paris Games. Sharife Sergeant reports.
