Attorney General and Minister for Labour Hon. Sir Steadroy Benjamin says the Government has not discussed any suggestion for a four-day work week. The issue has been broached by president of The People’s Union, Ralph Potter who says this would aid in greater work-life-balance. Labour Commissioner Eltonia Anthony Rojas had also given her personal view on the issue, indicating, “it could work.” Sir Steadroy Benjamin says he has been bombarded with calls from employers and employees about this issue, but is making it clear this is not the Government’s policy.

The Prices and Consumer Affairs Division has commented on the increasing number of queries and complaints it has been receiving about the price of eggs. The Government has moved to remove restrictions on imports of the commodity for the next 60 days to contain the escalation in prices. It has also required the Layer Farmers Association to defer the $2.00 increase in the wholesale price for a dozen eggs. Patrice Martin reports.

Prime Minister Hon, Gaston Browne has sounded the alarm about the existential threat of sea level rise to vulnerable Small Island Developing States, such as Antigua and Barbuda. He says if this is not abated, it will constitute a veritable “death sentence” for SIDS. The netballers of Antigua and Barbuda suffered defeat St St Lucia at the 4th ECCB International Netball series in St. Lucia on Monday night. Antigua and Barbuda were out to a fast start in the opening quarter, but faded as the game's tempo increased. St. Lucia dominated the rest of the match and prevailed 55-38. Captain of the Antigua and Barbuda squad, Amy Lake, says her team will have to rebound quickly for the games ahead.

St. Lucia Kings solidified their position at the summit of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League, with an imperious 80-run victory over Trinbago Knight Riders on Tuesday at the Brian Lara Academy. The Kings were led by Johnson Charles' 40-ball 89. Terry Andrew reports.

Plans are moving ahead to limit cell phone use by inmates at His Majesty's Prison. Prison Superintendent, Lieutenent Colonel Trevor Pennyfeather says cell phone jammers will be used in coming weeks. He says previous efforts to use the jammers were met with challenges, as ingenious prisoners sought to put a spanner in the works.

Seven Barbudans are being trained as Immigration Officers to be station at the new Burton-Nibbs International Airport to be opened on the Sister Isle October 3. They met with Immigration Minister, Hon. Sir Steadroy Benjamin on Monday. Myrtle Bruno-Hodge reports.
