The Government has discontinued the granting of discretionary waivers on the payment of duty, ABST, Revenue Recovery Charge and the environmental levy The move became effective on January 1, 2024, and is expected to plug the leakage of around 10 million dollars in revenues due to these waivers. The Antigua Public Utilities Authority says it is on track to place its electricity distribution system underground on a section of Friars Hill Road by March this year. Business operators could be hauled before the courts if they do not comply with the law when displaying prices. Businesses are urged to ensure that the prices that consumers see on shelves, are the same figure they will pay at the cash register.
