UK-based Antiguan Professor Ivan Browne has been awarded the prestigious 2023 Chief Medical Officer's National Impact Award at a recent ceremony. The accolade, presented by the Association of Directors of Public Health, recognizes Professor Browne's exceptional leadership and impact during the covid-19 pandemic in the UK. Professor Browne, now at De Montfort University, previously served as the Director of Public Health for Leicester, an area under intense scrutiny during the pandemic. He is celebrated for not only his individual contributions, but also his role in leading the Leicester City Council public health team, which developed the nation's first local contact tracing service.
