Interest in the Kloth Pop-Up Shop and Expo continues to grow, says founder and coordinator Khadija Millar. “It wasn’t every expo or pop-up that you could afford, so I wanted to create an affordable space for small businesses like myself. I started with 17 vendors and the demand for it grew and now we are here with over 100 vendors,” Millar said on Saturday at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre during their first expo for 2024. She added that this year her partners sought to enhance the customer experience by offering more. (Video by Sandy Pitt)MeAndMyNation #YourNewsYourTimeYourWay #TheSourceMatters #Barbados

Batting icon and former test captain Brian Lara has urged West Indies to be technical and tactical, in order to mitigate the threat of England's batting force in the upcoming three-match test series starting at Lord's next week. Warning of the dangers posed by England's aggressive approach with the bat, Lara says it is important for West Indies to stay aggressive in the field, and not to fall into the trap of going on the defensive too early. West Indies have already suffered one blow to their squad ahead of the series with veteran seamer Kemar Eoach ruled out with a knee injury. It means the Caribbean side have been left with a relatively inexperienced attack with only seamers Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph having played more than ten tests. However, Lara, who gathered over eleven-thousand runs from 131 tests, said his concern is more surrounding the inexperienced batting lineup. The first test bowls off next Wednesday. Barbadian youth are taking a stand on a number of issues in the country. The executive of the Barbados Youth Development Council (BYDC) has urged officials to include the youth in every facet of life, including giving them a seat in the social partnership. President Caleb Brathwaite says the rising tide of violence among young people is out of hand. Already, Barbados has recorded 24 homicides for the year. Mr. Brathwaite says they listened to Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley with great interest yesterday, and are in agreement with what he has prescribed to mitigate crime prevention in the country. But they say more can be done. Further, Mr. Brathwaite says there need to be requisite programmes implemented to assist young people in communities in an effort to meet them where they are. And he urges officials to include young people in policymaking.
