The Minister of National Beautification and the Blue Green Economy Adrian Forde says heavy machinery will not be used to remove the sargassum seaweed because he will not kill a single turtle. He told the Lower House that World Oceans Day is being celebrated June 8th under the theme "Awaken New Depths" and it is very appropriate that legislation is coming with the build out of a sector which for years was crying out for order. He was making reference to jet skis and pleasure cruises, catamarans and game fishing. Minister Forde says a number of people were generating AI images of large equipment on beaches but he believes the job the many men and women are doing is excellent since the bio-systems are being protected. Government has introduced legislation to ensure vessel-related and watersports activities are conducted in a safe and sustainable manner. The legislation, the Shipping Domestic Vessels Bill, is currently before the Lower House.
