Prepare to wait. That's the warning being given to all Barbadians attending the Queen Elizabeth Hospital at this time with non-life-threatening injuries. According to QEH Communications Specialist Shane Sealy, the Hospital is once again experiencing a surge in the number of patients presenting themselves to the Accident and Emergency Department for treatment. Mr. Sealy says just this morning 38 people walked in to be seen by doctors. He says this current situation on top of what obtains has led to a backlog resulting in an increase wait time in the department. Mr. Sealy maintains that Barbadians have the option of visiting the 24-hour Winston Scott Polyclinic at Jemmotts Lane, St. Michael for treatment or a private general practitioner of their choice. A viral video suggesting locally-produced Farmer's Choice hams were being sold in the US cheaper than in Barbados has prompted a response from the producers. Goddard Enterprises Limited, the parent company for Hipac, which is responsible for the Farmer's Choice brand, says the claim is not true. Chief Executive Officer Nicholas Mouttet says unfortunately a lot of misinformation has gone into circulation about the venture in recent days, including the notion that the hams sold in America are produced in Barbados. The second piece of incorrect information in the video relates to the price comparison. Meanwhile, the senior executive explains that the initiative in the US was actually a trial to test the market and it has proven to be very successful. He says despite the misinformation that was spread on social media, all of the hams in the New York and New Jersey markets have sold out and they are already looking towards next year to increase the level of production to coincide with different holidays and major events.
