Barbados signed such an agreement in September 2022, allowing the country to divert existing debt service to address challenges created by the climate crisis. Over the next 15 years, the island is expected to save 50 million US dollars. Speaking during an interview with the IMF Today programme, Ms. Mottley suggested the model could be expanded to CARICOM. A new Barbadian rum has entered the market and it's associated with the Barbados Museum. The Garrison Grog is a 14-year-old rum produced at the Foursquare Rum Distillery. Speaking at the event, Director of the Barbados Museum and Historical Society, Alissandra Cummins said the rum was created to celebrate their 90th anniversary as an authority of the history, heritage and culture of Barbados. Meanwhile Master Distiller & Master Blender at the Foursquare Rum Distillery Richard Seale says the company has been looking for ways to build out the tourism product through Barbadian heritage. He says this collaboration with the Museum is a step in the right direction, not only for his company but also for the country. The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting concluded in Samoa with leaders reaffirming their commitment to tackling global economic, environmental and security challenges. Barbados was represented by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley.
