The Barbados Police Service has identified the woman who reportedly lost her life during a domestic dispute in St. Philip. She is 52-year-old Daphne Thomas of #347 Emerald Park West, St. Philip, who was employed as a Prison Officer. The suspect who is reportedly in his 70s, was taken for medical attention after allegedly ingesting a poisonous substance. Residents of Emerald Park West have expressed shock after the murder of a neighbour and the apparent attempted suicide of her husband this morning. Stressing that the couple seemed "nice," they offered condolences to the family of the woman who lost her life. Police Communications and Public Affairs Officer, Inspector Rodney Inniss, says the victim is a woman believed to be in her 50s. The suspect who is reportedly in his 70s, was taken for medical attention after allegedly ingested a poisonous substance. Police are on the scene of an unnatural death in Emerald Park West in St Philip. Communications and Public Affairs Officer, Inspector Rodney Inniss, says the victim is a woman believed to be in her 50s. The suspect who is reportedly in his 70s has been taken for medical attention. The current roadworks under way at Coggins Hill, St Andrew, are a long time in coming for residents of the area. It will be Milo Lodge School and Nicholls Baking Combermere for the final of the BCA Under-15 competition. On the second and final day of the semi-finals, the Lodge fought back from losing first innings lead, to defeat St. Leonard's by 89 runs. Playing at Lears, Lodge resumed their second innings on 74 for 3, and declared on 148 for 8. Set 128 for victory, St. Leonard's were bowled out in their 2nd innings for 38. Liam Sealy had the excellent figures of 7 for 11. Meanwhile at Briar Hall, Combermere won their semifinal by an innings and 13 runs, after a 2nd innings batting collapse by Christ Church Foundation. The Barbados Bottling Company is steadfast in its mission to be a zero waste management company in the region. The United Nations Environmental Programme has lauded the efforts, but it says more needs to be done throughout the Caribbean to reduce the amount of waste produced. Premier of the Cayman Islands, Julianna O'Connor-Connolly says each year, millions flock to the region for numerous experiences. Roadside mechanics in communities are proving to be a hindrance to access for the collection of garbage by the Sanitation Service Authority. Public Relations Officer Carl Padmore says the way vehicles are set down by some mechanics is a challenge. The SSA is also unhappy with what it deems to be disrespectful parking blocking access to the Westbury Cemetery. Mr. Padmore says the presence of several private vehicles at the entrance and exit of the Cemetery, is having an impact on funerals. Speaker of the House of Assembly, His Honour Arthur Holder says Parliaments have to be made more effective and meaningful so as to regain the trust of the populace.
