There's potential for Barbados and St. Lucia to secure more international flights through the embrace of the hub-and-spoke network model. A hub is a central airport that flights are routed through, and spokes are the routes that planes take out of the hub airport. The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association says a similar arrangement can be in place in the Northern Caribbean with Jamaica, Puerto rico and the Dominican Republic. President Nicola Madden-Greig believes such a system can work. Ms. Madden-Greig made her views known in an address at the Organisation of American States.
