The Ministry of Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocational Training through its Early Childhood Services Unit in collaboration with the Child Development and Guidance Centre (CDGC) has produced a 10-episode Parent Education Series entitled “Bonding - Creating Stronger Parent-Child Relationships.” This mini-series was produced by Dove Productions with funding support from UNICEF. Bonding premieres Jan 11. Episodes will be aired every Tuesday and Thursday on the National Television Network (NTN).

Cultural stalwart and educator Kennetta Bobb passed away on Monday. Via release on Tuesday, the Tourism Secretary extended condolences to the family recounting the almost four decades of service Ms. Bobb gave to Tobago teaching at four schools on the island. Ms. Bobb also served on the Tobago Festival Committee and the Tobago Best Village Steering Committee and performed on popular television production Turn of the Tide. In 2020, the street on which she resided was renamed in her honour and last month, Bishop’s High School, Tobago honoured her as part of their Tobago Day celebrations. The Tourism Division said Ms. Bobb left an indelible mark and rich legacy on both the educational and cultural landscape in Tobago.

The Barbados Bay Fish Facility in Studley Park, Tobago is now up and running. Upgrade and repair works were conducted on the facility and on Tuesday, the Re-Commissioning Ceremony took place.

The words of Attorney General Reginald Armour, SC, after the Estate Management and Business Development Company Limited (EMBD) won a judgement in the Court of Appeal against several contracting companies for conspiring together to obtain State contracts.

Workers at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus have been given the green light to commence industrial action from tomorrow, Wednesday. Confirmation of this from General Secretary of the Barbados Workers Union, Toni Moore. The announcement follows a work stoppage by scores of workers from several departments today. The workers returned to work after about an hour. In a statement the BWU General Secretary explained that the Union has been in dialogue with the University for the past nine months, advocating for the fair and timely compensation of staff. However, Ms. Moore says despite assurances from the University, it has not met its commitment to adjust salaries and allowances as agreed upon. As such, she says the situation has escalated to a point the Union can no longer accept. Ms. Moore says unless a satisfactory agreement is reached beforehand, industrial action is imminent.
