Cricket analyst and commentator Colin Murray believes the move by the England and Wales Cricket Board to hire Pollard a smart one but does not make them outright favourites for the World Cup.

The local farming community is reporting tonight that it did not have the best of years. That's the word from Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Agricultural Society James Paul. He says the year was extremely difficult due to weather changes which caused a shortage in supplies. Mr. Paul also listed some of the other situations that caused challenges but applauded the industry for showing resilience this year. He says for 2024 he hopes things will be better. Mr. Paul also hopes that a state of the art vet lab can be introduced for the agricultural sector. A local charity has come forward this Christmas to give some residents of the Thelma Vaughn Memorial Home a happy holiday season. The charity is named 'Kids Helping Kids' which began in February this year. Shekira Boxill is the driving force behind the charity and she says that Christmas is meant to be a happy time and everyone deserves to feel that way regardless of their situation. Prepare to wait. That's the warning being given to all Barbadians attending the Queen Elizabeth Hospital at this time with non-life-threatening injuries. According to QEH Communications Specialist Shane Sealy, the Hospital is once again experiencing a surge in the number of patients presenting themselves to the Accident and Emergency Department for treatment. Mr. Sealy says just this morning 38 people walked in to be seen by doctors. He says this current situation on top of what obtains has led to a backlog resulting in an increase wait time in the department. Mr. Sealy maintains that Barbadians have the option of visiting the 24-hour Winston Scott Polyclinic at Jemmotts Lane, St. Michael for treatment or a private general practitioner of their choice. Despite the high demand for spaces, it will be pretty much impossible for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to accommodate more medical interns each year. Honorary Consultant and Internship Coordinator, Dr. Clyde Cave says the facility has been offering spaces to 36 interns. However, he adds it is capped at that figure to maintain the quality of the programme. Acknowledging the competitive nature of the programme, Dr. Cave shared this advice with aspiring doctors and prospective applicants.
