As Errol Barrow Day approaches the political party he founded has chosen to celebrate and honour him in a special way this year. The headquarters of the Democratic Labour Party, the George Street Auditorium will now be known as the Errol Walton Barrow Auditorium. Speaking last night at the 68th Democratic Labour Party Errol Barrow Lecture and Awards Ceremony, President of the DLP Ronnie Yearwood emphasised that Barrow's legacy does not only belong to the DLP, it's for all Barbadians. Efforts are on to get more young people involved in sheep farming locally. Today, the Barbados Agricultural Society and the Barbados Sheep Farmers Association joined forces to mount a training seminar for scores of young people at the Grotto. President of the Sheep Farmers Association Rommel Parris spoke about the venture and the areas that will be covered. He is also on a mission to boost the numbers in the association. One lucky Courts customer has taken the grand prize of a $100,000 home makeover in the company's Christmas promotion. Speaking during the presentation ceremony at the store's City location, Managing Director of Unicomer (Barbados), which trades as Courts, Trisha Tannis says they are always pleased to be able to give back to customers who have remained loyal over the years. She says Unicomer continues to play a pivotal role in the transformation of the country as a society and economy. Meanwhile, it was all smiles for grand prize winner Coraleen Boyce. Part of her $100,000 makeover grand prize includes $20,000 in cash. She thanked God for the unexpected blessing, adding that it took some convincing at first for her to believe she was one of the finalists. Several other Courts customers also won big under the company's Servitech, Courts Optical, Ready Cash, and Courts Card departments, to name a few. They won a mixture of prizes, ranging from cash and televisions and large and small appliances, to staycations and more. A name change and extensive upgrades are on the cards for the Cheapside terminal in the City. Transport Authority officials, including its Chairman, Marie Theodore met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Works, Santia Bradshaw and and top MTW officials to review preliminary plans for what will be the new Seaview Terminal. The Barbados Police Service was also privy to a first-hand look at the plans and had the opportunity to advise on security regarding the proposed terminal. Minister Bradshaw says discussions had been ongoing for several years regarding the upgrade to the facility.
