The Czech Republic has declared Saturday a national day of mourning after a gunman killed 14 people and injured 25 at a university in Prague. President Petr Pavel expressed his "great sadness" and "helpless anger at the totally unnecessary" loss of life. The gunman, who police said had been "eliminated", is believed to have also killed his father and may be linked to the deaths of two people last week. "Offensichtlich ist es eine Frage für die Politik: Wie setze ich die Prioritäten?", erklärt der "Junge Union"-Chef Johannes Winkel. Die Bevölkerung wird in den nächsten Jahren demografisch altern. Daher stellen sich die Talkgäste bei Markus Lanz die Frage: Für wen wird Politik gemacht? Für die Alten oder für die Jungen? "Und ich habe das Gefühl, dass die Prioritäten jedenfalls nicht bei der jungen Generation gelegt werden", lautet die Antwort von Johannes Winkel. Man könne seiner Meinung nach stark erkennen, dass in Bundesländer mit einer deutlich älteren Bevölkerung, Politik auf die Alten priorisiert werde. Herr Winkel geht sogar so weit, dass der Generationenvertrag, den es eigentlich gebe, von der Politik längst aufgekündigt sei. Das liege daran, dass der eigentliche Topf für die Renten lange nicht mehr ausreiche und man daher den Bundeshaushalt anzapft, um die Rentenlücken auszugleichen. Geld, das man laut dem JU-Chef sinnvoller hätte ausgeben können: "Also, man hätte ja auch sagen können: 'Statt dass wir jedes Jahr zwölf Milliarden Euro für die Rente mit 63 ausgeben, geben wir die gleiche Summe für Investitionen in Digitalisierung aus, um unser Land fit für die Zukunft zu machen.'" Denn das Rentenproblem sei so schnell nicht aufzuhalten, erklärt der Soziologe Stefan Schulz. Er ordnet die Argumente von Johannes Winkel ein und blickt kritisch auf die weitere Entwicklung der Renten. Aktuell sei es nämlich teilweise so, dass Renten, die von Arbeitnehmern beispielsweise im Januar eingezahlt, direkt schon im nächsten Monat - Februar - ausgeschüttet werden. Langfristig berge dies Risiken, die man eigentlich mit einer Aktienrente partiell verbessern wollte. Doch aufgrund der Haushaltskrise wurde diese relativ zügig gekippt.
