The US has announced a new international taskforce to protect commercial ships in the Red Sea. Countries joining the security group include the UK, France, Canada, Bahrain, Norway and Spain. It comes after the energy giant BP suspended its shipping operations through the Red Sea because cargo vessels have been attacked by Iran-backed Houthi rebels from Yemen. This is the route taken by around 12% of world shipping, which then passes through the Suez Canal. But several major freight companies have now stopped taking the route. "Il semblait que quelqu’un montait les escaliers en frappant des pieds. En arrivant sur le palier, il frappe cinq fois à la porte. Puis un bruit comme un coup de gourdin fit trembler la maison", voilà ce qu’il se serait déroulé dans un château de Normandie, d’après les dires de son propriétaire. Chaque nuit, des bruits inhumains se manifestaient, faisant trembler de peur ses résidents. Cris, hurlements de démons ou de damnés. Ces témoignages ne font pas partie de passé, Laurent sent chez lui une présence qu’il ne peut ignorer, une porte s’ouvre inexplicablement. Une enfant demande à Laurent de regarder une poutre du salon. Elle insiste, il est interloqué. Un ami lui expliquera qu’un homme s’est pendu exactement à l’endroit indiqué par la fillette, dans les années 50… Les fantômes sont souvent victimes de clichés. Par exemple, pour beaucoup, on rencontre des spectres dans des châteaux hantés remplis de toiles d’araignées. Rien n’est plus faux ! Les fantômes sont partout : ils nous font peur depuis toujours. On peut les croiser bien sûr dans des châteaux, mais aussi dans des maisons, des appartements, des musées, près des lacs, sur d’anciens champs de bataille et même… Sur le bord de la route. Par exemple, les dames blanches, archétype des apparitions fantomatiques, effraient les conducteurs de voiture la nuit. La dame en blanc a commencé à se manifester aux États-Unis dans les années 50. On l’aurait vue en Europe quelques années plus tard, et elle apparaîtrait encore aujourd’hui, notamment en Belgique. S’agit-il d’une légende urbaine, d’une de ces légendes pour faire peur aux enfants ? En tout cas, le scénario est toujours le même : en roulant la nuit, un conducteur remarque une femme habillée de blanc qui fait du stop. Le véhicule s’arrête, la dame inquiétante monte à bord sans un mot et la voiture repart. Soudain, l’apparition hurle avant de disparaître, comme si elle voulait avertir d’un danger. Une des histoires les plus convaincantes de cette auto-stoppeuse fantôme s’est déroulée à Palavas-les-Flots en 1981. Les jeunes qui avaient fait monter cette dame blanche dans leur voiture étaient tellement effrayés qu’ils avaient décidé de témoigner à la gendarmerie. Les gendarmes ont estimé qu’ils ne mentaient pas en relatant cette légende, mais qu’ils décrivaient bien une expérience réelle… L’apparition n’est pas la seule forme de présence des fantômes : le plus souvent, celles et ceux qui disent vivre dans des endroits hantés ne voient pas de fantômes, par contre, ils les entendraient ou ressentiraient leur présence, ce qui bien évidemment fait sourire les sceptiques. Nach wochenlangen Erdbeben auf Island ist in der Nacht ein Vulkan auf der Halbinsel Reykjanes ausgebrochen: Lavamassen quellen aus einer mehr als drei Kilometer langen Erdspalte. Der Chef des isländischen Zivilschutzes, Vidir Reynisson, berichtete anfangs von mindestens 100 Kubikmetern Magma pro Sekunde. Bilder von Webcams zeigten den Ausbruch um 22:17 Uhr Ortszeit. Geschmolzenes Gestein schoss in die Luft und floss später entlang eines Bergrückens. Der Riss ist Experten zufolge um ein Vielfaches länger als bei den Ausbrüchen der vergangenen Jahre auf der Halbinsel Reykjanes. Der Zivilschutz rief die Notfallstufe aus. Die Lava trat etwa vier Kilometer entfernt von dem Fischerort Grindavík aus, der schon vor etwa fünf Wochen evakuiert worden war. Reynisson sagte, es handle sich um einen großen Ausbruch und warnte davor, der Lava zu nahe zu kommen. "Das ist keine Touristenattraktion", sagte er. Gefährlich für Menschen sind nicht nur die Lavaströme, sondern auch Aschefall und freigesetzte Giftstoffe. Unter dem Ort auf der Reykjanes-Halbinsel, auf der es bereits drei Jahre in Folge zu Vulkanausbrüchen kam, verläuft ein rund 15 Kilometer langer Magma-Tunnel von Nordosten nach Südwesten ins Meer. Die jüngsten Eruptionen, zuletzt im Juli, trafen stets unbewohntes Gebiet. Wie lange der Ausbruch dauern wird, war nach Angaben des Geophysikers Magnús Tumi Gudmundsson noch nicht absehbar.
