L'armée israélienne a annoncé dimanche avoir découvert le "plus grand tunnel" du Hamas sous la bande de Gaza assiégée, où Israël poursuit ses frappes meurtrières malgré des appels pressants à un cessez-le-feu. "Ce réseau massif de tunnels, qui se divise en plusieurs branches, s'étend sur plus de quatre kilomètres et n'arrive qu'à 400 mètres du point de passage d'Erez", entre Israël et le nord de la bande de Gaza, ont indiqué les forces armées israéliennes. Archbishop of Westminster Cardinal Vincent Nichols discusses reports that two women were killed after allegedly being shot by Israeli snipers inside a Catholic church in Gaza. "It's certainly a cold-blooded killing," the most senior Catholic figure in the UK said. An Israeli military sniper shot and killed two women inside the Holy Family Parish in Gaza City on Saturday, according to the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. The Israeli military has denied it targets civilians, with a spokesperson saying: "An initial review suggests that IDF troops, who were operating against Hamas terrorists in the area, operated against a threat that they identified in the area of the church. The IDF is conducting a thorough review of the incident." The chief executive of Sellafield has hit back at reports that computer systems at the nuclear site in Cumbria, England, have been hacked. Euan Hutton said there was no evidence of Sellafield's IT networks having been targeted by groups linked to foreign governments. He also rejected allegations of serious safety failings at the plant. Sellafield is widely regarded as Western Europe's most hazardous nuclear site. Its activities included generating electricity and reprocessing spent fuel. Now it is mainly used for the treatment and storage of nuclear waste. Pro-democracy media tycoon Jimmy Lai is facing a Hong Kong court in a long-awaited trial over charges that he "colluded with foreign forces". Mr Lai, 76, denies the charges. Chile ha vuelto a rechazar el nuevo proyecto de Constitución en Chile. El voto 'en contra' de la nueva propuesta de Carta Magna chilena, con un marcado carácter conservador, ha ganado con un 55,76% de votos. De este modo los chilenos echan por tierra el segundo proyecto constituyente en 15 meses y mantienen vigente la Constitución heredada de la dictadura militar de Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990) y ampliamente reformada en democracia. Por otro lado, se cierra definitivamente, al menos durante la presidencia de Gabriel Boric (2022-2026), el debate constitucional, porque el mandatario progresista ya ha dicho que no impulsará un tercer proceso constituyente. El partido conservador Unión Demócrata Independiente (UDI), que hizo campaña a favor de la nueva propuesta, ha sido el primero en salir a reconocer los resultados y su líder, Javier Macaya, ha dicho que los chilenos "no quieren cambios constitucionales ni tampoco refundaciones". El resultado de este domingo supone un varapalo para el ultraderechista Partido Republicano, que tuvo un peso fundamental en la redacción del nuevo texto y aspiraba a convertirse en la fuerza hegemónica de la derecha. Mientras que tanto la derecha tradicional y la ultraderecha defendían que la propuesta se hacía cargo del problema de la inseguridad y ponía fin a la incertidumbre institucional que generaron las masivas protestas de 2019, la izquierda aseguraba que el texto era "dogmático" y profundizaba en el modelo neoliberal implantado durante el régimen militar.
