A father-daughter duo in #Newhope are planning to turn 20 acres of family farmland into a prime eclipse-viewing campsite. In 2017, there was a total #solareclipse, and it only lasted two minutes and 17 seconds," said Amanda Chandler. "This one's almost double that time. It's the granddaddy of all eclipses." According to Chandler, the family farm will be in total darkness for four minutes and 16 seconds. When Chandler and her father discovered their family farm was located smack-dab in the middle of the path of totality, they knew they had something to offer. "People are going to need a place to stay and that's what we want to provide for them here on this beautiful farm," she said. On the southern edge of the Ouachita Mountains in Pike County, the farm's rural location makes it ideal for sky gazers. Chicago's mayor says the migrant surge in Texas and Gov. Greg Abbott's policies have pushed his city to the breaking point and he's pleading with Congress for help. In December, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported more than 300,000 migrants crossed the Mexico border. Many have landed in Chicago, courtesy of Abbott who has bused and flown them to Chicago, New York, Denver, and other sanctuary cities, partially in protest of President Joe Biden's immigration policies and partially because the state has been overwhelmed by the migrant crisis.
