Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ontario Premier Doug Ford are expected to sign a health-care funding agreement on Friday. The agreement will detail how Ontario will be required to utilize extra federal funding, particularly within the provincial health care system, for health care. The deal comes as provinces like Ontario are looking to allow more private clinics to ease wait times for surgeries and medical imaging. The federal government, however, is adamant that health-care delivery must stay publicly funded. Trudeau and Ford met with Ontario nursing students prior to the announcement. They will be joined by Health Minister Mark Holland, Mental Health and Addictions Minister Ya’ara Saks, Ontario’s Deputy Premier Sylvia Jones and Ontario’s Mental Health and Addictions Associate Minister Michael Tibollo.
