The International Court of Justice has delivered a much-anticipated ruling demanding Israel do more to contain the death and damage its military operation has brought to Gaza. The reaction to the ruling is widespread, including here in Canada where members of the Liberal government remain divided. The ruling may lack immediate practical consequences in Gaza but could ultimately hold deep historical resonance for people on all sides of the conflict. Crystal Goomansingh has more. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau previously said Canada is watching the case carefully and stands behind the international court. But despite today’s ruling, the federal government isn’t offering a clear stance toward the allegations against Israel. As Mackenzie Gray reports, that hasn’t stopped issues arising within the Liberal caucus itself. Former president Donald Trump has been splitting his time between the courtroom and the campaign trail. A new study out of Dalhousie University in Halifax has found artificial intelligence (AI) could potentially change the way doctors diagnose skin cancer. Researchers used the AI system “Foto Finder” to determine whether certain skin lesions were cancerous – and required removal. They say the technology was able to detect the disease at rates comparable to experienced dermatologists. For Canadians with Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, an early diagnosis can mean the difference between life and death. And a lack of access to specialists can delay diagnosis. As Amber Fryday reports, experts hope AI could help eliminate dangerous wait times.
