This past summer Pascal Siakam and his PS43 Foundation teamed up with the University of New Brunswick and the McKenna Institute to award a scholarship to UNB Digital students from Cameroon. The first ever recipient, Cedrick Tahmo, had fled his native Cameroon due to civil unrest between the Anglophone and Francophone population. He headed to Saint John, New Brunswick to continue his studies. While he encountered many financial hardships, the scholarship from his fellow Cameroonian couldn’t have come at a better time. ---------------------------------------------- Subscribe to Sportsnet on YouTube - http://sprtsnt.ca/2paAT2L Visit Sportsnet.ca for more sports news and highlights - http://www.sportsnet.ca Follow Sportsnet on Facebook - http://sprtsnt.ca/YTFB Follow Sportsnet on Twitter - http://sprtsnt.ca/YTTWTR Follow Sportsnet on Instagram - http://sprtsnt.ca/YTINST Follow Sportsnet on Snapchat - http://sprtsnt.ca/YTSNAP Follow Sportsnet on TikTok - http://sprtsnt.ca/YTTIKTOK Watch Sportsnet on Sportsnet+ - http://sportsnetplus.ca ---------------------------------------------- Sportsnet is Canada's #1 Sports Network. Toronto Raptors vice-chairman and president Masai Ujiri said on Thursday that it was a “tough couple of weeks,” the day after news of trading franchise star Pascal Siakam in a three-team trade to the Indiana Pacers was made public. Siakam, a two-time all-star and one of the last remaining ties to Toronto’s 2019 NBA championship team, was dealt to the Indiana Pacers in a blockbuster trade Wednesday. The Raptors received guard Bruce Brown, forward Jordan Nwora and three first-round picks from the Pacers in return. Toronto also got guard Kira Lewis from New Orleans, with a second-round pick going from the Pacers to the Pelicans in the deal. “My team has gone into every single detail on how we measure him staying or us doing this deal. And faith comes into it. And when we think of it, we think strategically,” Ujiri said. “You never know how this market changes. That's just the nature of the NBA.” Asked to reflect on moments with Siakam that have stood out to him, Ujiri paused before becoming emotional and recounting how Siakam was first introduced to the sport through Basketball without Borders.
