The document from the Vatican's doctrine office said blessings should not be conferred at the same time as a civil union because marriage remains a lifelong sacrament between a man and a woman. CORRECTION (Dec. 20, 2023): A previous version of this video incorrectly reported that the Catholic Church can now bless some same-sex marriages. In fact, the church allows priests to bless individuals under certain conditions, one of those being that the blessing doesn’t confuse the ritual with the sacrament of marriage. The incorrect video has been removed.
