Officials from the United Nations (UN), World Health Organization (WHO) and Red Cross aired their frustrations about the worsening humanitarian crisis facing Gazans amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict on Tuesday. To date, more than 19,000 Palestinians have died and over 52,000 injured since Israel began its war on Hamas two months ago — triggered by the unprecedented killing of 1,200 Israelis by Hamas on Oct. 7. U.N. Children’s Agency spokesperson James Elder said he was “furious” that the approximately 7,000 children killed in the onslaught are “becoming statistics and not stories” at this point. “Where do children and families go?” Elder queried. “They're not safe in hospitals, they're not safe in shelters, and they're certainly not safe in so-called safe zones.” In the last few weeks, Israel has faced intensifying pressures to commit to a ceasefire in Gaza and stop the violence. Google has agreed to pay $700 million and make several other concessions to settle allegations that it had been stifling competition against its Android app store, California Attorney General Rob Bonta said on Tuesday. Although Google struck a deal with state attorneys general in September, the settlement’s terms weren’t revealed until late Monday. The disclosure came a week after a federal court jury rebuked Google for deploying anti-competitive tactics in its Play Store for Android apps, the same issue that went to trial in another case that could result in even bigger changes. The settlement includes $630 million to compensate U.S. consumers funneled into a payment processing system that state attorneys general allege drove up prices. Ruby Franke, a Utah mother of six who documented her family’s life on the now-defunct YouTube channel “8 Passengers,” has pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated child abuse, a second-degree felony. Franke appeared in court Monday in handcuffs and a grey-and-white prison jumpsuit to accept the plea deal. She was originally charged with six counts of child abuse, but two charges were dropped as part of the agreement. Franke is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 20. The court hearing for the disgraced family vlogger was broadcast in full by local news affiliate KUTV, showing Franke solemnly entering a plea of “guilty” as the judge read off her list of charges. When asked for her plea on the last count, Franke said, “with my deepest regret and sorrow for my family and my children, guilty.” For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca/news/10179276/ruby-franke-pleads-guilty-child-abuse-jodi-hildebrandt/ Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: http://bit.ly/20fcXDc Like Global News on Facebook HERE: http://bit.ly/255GMJQ Follow Global News on Twitter HERE: http://bit.ly/1Toz8mt Follow Global News on Instagram HERE: https://bit.ly/2QZaZIB #GlobalNews #rubyfranke #vlogger
