The death toll in the George building collapse has risen to 15. This comes after rescuers celebrated the rescue of thirty-three-year-old, Gabriel Guambe, who was brought to the surface on Saturday morning. He spent 118 hours trapped under the rubble. Another survivor has been pulled from the rubble of the George building collapse. 33-year-old Gabriel Gwambe, was trapped for roughly one-hundred-and-eighteen hours. It's understood he was on the third floor of the five-storey building when it crumbled on Monday. There has been no reported case of avian flu this year - but the industry is still recovering from the devastating 2023 outbreak. More than six million birds had to be culled last year, with 30 percent of the industry impacted at a cost of at least two billion Rand. The South African Poultry Association says they are cautiously optimistic for 2024. A 33-year-old man has been pulled out alive from the rubble of the collapsed building in George. The man was found as emergency services removed a slab from what they believed to be the floor to level three of the building. The case against a 39-year-old Cape Town Bolt driver accused of stabbing two of his passengers has been postponed to the 17th of May for a bail application. Benedict Chitungu appeared before the Cape Town Magistrates Court and now faces two charges of attempted murder instead of the previous charge of assault GBH.
