The authenticity of the video showing Deputy President Paul Mashatile’s protectors beating up motorists has taken centre stage at the Randburg Magistrates Court. Eight officers are back in the dock facing several charges including intent to do grievous bodily harm and pointing a firearm. A rescue operation is underway in George in the Western Cape, to find over forty workers trapped after a building collapsed. Several people have been rescued, but exact numbers are not yet known. The collapse has resulted in the closure of Victoria street and the municipality's offices which are in adjacent York Street. The Kouga Local Municipality has expressed concern over the recent Foot and Mouth outbreak in Humansdorp in the Eastern Cape. Although South Africa as a nation has sufficient food, many households remain food insecure. Over the years, Gift of the Givers Foundation has offered emergency relief and aid to the Matsila village and surrounding communities. It provides them with food parcels and dug boreholes to ensure clean water availability during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Chief Matsila Foundation, together with Gift of the Givers, will be launching a food and nutrition program this week. It will deliver food parcels to over 2,000 beneficiaries, including children, elderly people, and people with disabilities. Chief Livhuwani Matsila discussed this with eNCA. The ruling party has been vigorously campaigning in the province as it struggles to claw back support after losing the province to the Democratic Alliance in 2009.
