The remains of 6 victims of the horrific Easter bus crash have been handed over to their families. They are the only positively identified bodies of the tragedy that claimed 45 lives. The ZCC congregants were on their way to Moria when their bus plunged off a bridge. Deputy president, Paul Mashatile, says 90-percent of the water issues in eThekwini have been resolved. Mashatile has been tasked with resolving the nation's impending water catastrophe. He was in Durban on Friday after a number of protests from irate residents, some of whom have gone without water for months. Smaller parties are facing a mass culling. That's if the Municipal Structures Second Amendment Bill is passed into law. It proposes that parties must get a threshold of 1% to get a seat in council or legislature. The ANC and the DA both agree on this proposal. The Independent Electoral Commission has approached the Constitutional Court over its decision to remove Jacob Zuma from the MK party's election list. Former NFL star and actor, OJ Simpson, has died at the age of 76. According to a statement posted online by his family, Simpson died on Wednesday after battling cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Simpson achieved infamy after being accused of the brutal murder of his wife and her male friend in 1990s. The tourism and leisure industry is weathering the storms generated by the country's political uncertainty. According to StatsSA, the latest tourist accommodation data shows South Africa had a bumper in December. The tourist accommodation industry increased its revenue, growing by 10.2% year-on-year. Ekurhuleni has a new mayor – the third in three years. The metro's been rocked by instability since the local government elections in 2021. Initially, a DA Mayor was in charge, until the EFF and ANC decided to support a candidate from a small party last year. Sivuyile Ngodwana from the AIC came in as mayor. He was then booted out nearly two weeks ago after Action SA tabled a motion against him. The AIC was left fuming after the ANC abstained in that vote, allowing him to go.
