Reports that the City of Johannesburg will fork out over R3-million on VIP protection are being criticised. The money will be spent on scores of bodyguards and vehicles for city councillors. Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda will apparently be given 10 bodyguards and a fleet of luxury cars for his security. The Democratic Alliance has slammed the move, saying a security threat assessment is needed before increasing the budget for this. Security expert, Rory Steyn discussed this with eNCA.
