After four long years, Katlehong Pastor Benjamin Dingiso has finally been sentenced to an effective 20 years behind bars. He was found guilty of 31 counts of rape and sexual assault in November last year. The Arise and Shine Pastor raped and sexually groomed dozens of boys between 2009 and 2021. The South African Union of students has welcomed the decision by the Higher Education department to deregister the Educor group of Colleges including Damelin College and City Varsity for non-compliance. Asive Dlanjwa, spokesperson of the union, says while it's unfortunate for students, the move serves to protect the credibility of the higher education system. Medical scientists are harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to help speed up the screening process of tuberculosis patients. A mobile application that is still under development, records cough sounds from patients and then analyses it to determine if they require further testing for TB. International Relations Minister Naledi Pandor is welcoming the UN security resolution on a Gaza ceasefire. She now says she expects the United Nations to ensure the resolution is being adhered to. 14 of the 15 members of the council voted in favour of the resolution, while the US abstained.
