In efforts to address abandoned housing projects across the Eastern Cape, the province's Human Settlements Department has unblocked 58 of 87 historically blocked or stalled projects. Judge Cassim Moosa has ordered that a trial within a trial be held in the case against Sifiso Mkhwanazi. The 21-year-old admitted to killing six sex workers in 2022. The confession was made to his father, Mark Khumalo. South Africa's voters roll has now grown to a total of 27.4 million. Two registration weekends have added just over a million potential voters, ahead of this year's polls.
