A neighbour arrested for the kidnapping and murder of 8-year-old Lukhololwam Mkontwana will not be applying for bail. 31-year-old Aphiwe Vakele, who is facing a premeditated murder charge, has appeared at the Athlone Magistrate's Court. The state says should Vakele later seek bail, they will oppose it as cell phone records and DNA have linked him to the case committed in 2022. A bail application by alleged insurance fraud killer, Agnes Segomotsi Setshwantsho has been denied by the Mmabatho Magistrate's Court. Setshwantsho is accused of killing her niece Bonolo Modiseemang for financial gain. She is facing four counts including murder, fraud, and defeating the ends of justice. The Eastern Cape Transport Department has called on parents and pupils not to risk their lives by crossing rivers and streams to get to school. This follows images and videos of pupils crossing raging rivers that went viral on social media earlier this week.
