Music and theatre legend Mbongeni Ngema worked with Ladysmith Black Mambazo on several occasions and was very close to its founder, Joseph Shabalala. A month ago, almost a million pupils finished writing their final school exams at over 400 venues across South Africa. It's anxiety all around as parents and pupils now await their results. The process wasn't without challenges, but the Basic Education Department is confident about the outcomes. Several dozen container vessels are expected to travel via the Suez Canal and the Red Sea in the coming days and weeks.Some global shipping firms have announced a return to the route. Last week, over a hundred ships were re-routed around southern Africa to avoid the Suez Canal. Tributes have been pouring in for veteran music and theatre legend Mbongeni Ngema following his death Wednesday. Ngema, best known for writing the stage play, Sarafina! was killed in a car accident in Mbizana in the Eastern Cape. In his tribute to Ngema, the University of KwaZulu-Natal's Dr Ismail Mahomed, described him as a theatre, film and music icon. Mahomed has called on society to use this moment to reflect on the man and his legacy and not to overshadow it bringing up his flaws. He spoke with eNCA.
