Is teenage pregnancy becoming a norm in South Africa? Teenage pregnancies have been increasing at an alarming rate in the country. The National Health Department wants society to collaborate with the government on its sexual and reproductive health awareness campaign. This is meant to empower young people to make use of health services, especially family planning and contraceptive use to prevent unplanned pregnancies. Overnight in the Gaza Strip, heavy bombing by the Israeli army continued, making it increasingly difficult for humanitarian missions to supply aid to Gaza. Intense clashes with Hamas fighters, were reported in most areas. The UN says Israeli forces pounded central Gaza by land, sea, and air. The shack dwellers movement Abahlali Basemjondolo are also concerned about the assassinations as members of their organization have also been targeted and killed. There have been over 20 killings of members since 2005. This has left many of its leaders on edge as threats of violence against its leaders continue. The movement says it is concerned that political murders are likely to escalate ahead of next year's national and provincial government elections.
