Actor Darlington Michaels has been laid to rest. Family, friends and industry colleagues gathered at Uncle Toms Community Center in Soweto, to pay their last respects. The Department of Home Affairs has started a process to eliminate widespread ID fraud. They aim to achieve this by phasing out the notorious green barcoded ID books and to get the process going, the department has extended its services to Saturdays until 12 October. Over 300 Public Works facilities across the country are unlawfully occupied. Others are abandoned. In Cape Town, the department has received court orders to evict residents from two locations, with plans to refurbish and potentially convert other facilities into social housing.
