Workers at BMW’s Rosslyn plant say they will continue striking until their demands are met but they could fall foul of the law because the Labour court has now declared the protest unlawful. The employees have been on strike since Monday. Five men facing extortion charges have been granted bail of ten-thousand-rand each by the Camperdown Magistrate’s Court in KwaZulu-Natal. Andile Jiyane, Elias Phetha, Nhlanhla Makhathini, Sibonelo Khanyile and Thabani Nkomo are accused by the state of being members of the so-called construction mafia group. The accused deny all the allegations.
