A woman whose rape kit has positively linked Sipho Lucas Phiri to the crime says Phiri raped her at gunpoint and dropped her off at work after violating her. The former Prasa security guard who’s married with children, is accused of inflicting a reign of terror between 2018 and 2023, raping at least 37 women some of who are teenagers. It's alleged Phiri's modus operandi was to target women coming from taxi ranks or walking in the street. He’s set to go on trial which has been delayed by his attempt to bar eNCA’s cameras from televising it. A damning report prepared by the City Manager's office has been tabled by the Ekurhuleni council speaker. The report recommends the suspension of Metro Police Chief, Isaac Mapiyeye, and an independent investigation be conducted within 30-days. Mapiyeye who's been in office since 2017 is accused of sexual harassment and intimidation of a fellow staff member. Road carnage continues in KZN. Another accident has claimed the lives of two pupils near Vryheid, in the northern part of the province. This latest crash follows a number of road accidents in the province within a very short space of time.
