Communities are under siege. This as violent crime, house robberies and break-ins have been increasing over the last five years. Statistician-General, Risenga Maluleke released the Victims of Crime Report yesterday. He says all crimes at the household level are increasing.
The construction mafias must be eliminated if South Africa wishes to encourage investment in the country's constructing industry. Public Works and Infrastructure minister, Dean Macpherson, says crime intelligence teams can outsmart the mafias. Development projects in numerous provinces have been halted by criminal syndicates. On Monday, five individuals accused of breaking into a construction site and threatening workers in KwaZulu-Natal made an appearance in court.
