Allegations of witness intimidation have surfaced at the Enyobeni Tavern inquest. It's investigating who should be held responsible for the deaths of 21 young people at an East London tavern in June 2022. Some of the people who have testified since the inquiry started several weeks ago, also appeared in the witness box during the trial of tavern owner, Vuyokazi Ndevu and manager, Siyakhangela Ndevu. The ANC leadership in Gauteng is out to reclaim the Tshwane metro, after doing so in Ekurhuleni and recently in Johannesburg. If successful, the party will regain power in the province's influential municipalities it lost, in the 2016 local government elections. The Democratic Alliance has started a petition to challenge Eskom's draft application for a 36-percent hike in electricity tariffs. The party has also been given the green light for a debate in Parliament on the matter.
