The 702 Walk the Talk has been going strong for over 20 years. This year's edition has fittingly being organised in the nation's capital, on the occasion of South Africa's celebrations of three decades of Democracy. It's a unique celebration. The 350th anniversary of the passing of Krotoa coincides with South Africa's three decades of democracy. Organisers say the celebrations highlight the significant role played by women, in the fight for democracy and freedom in South Africa. The South African Human Rights Commission has been critical, of government departments that have failed to implement recommendations, contained in its 2021 July Unrest report. As the Gauteng Education Department gives the Pretoria Girls High School’s SGB time to investigate allegations of racism and the school’s poor response, some of the pupils involved are speaking out. Lwazi Monareng and Kamva Pani explain how a series of WhatsApp chats about black pupils at the school led to them raising issues of discrimination. 12 white pupils have since been suspended pending a disciplinary hearing.
