Environment Minister, Dion George, says coal energy will be with us for some time to come. He says he is worried about job losses if coal is phased out. The Minister says the country can also only transition once there is enough renewable energy in the mix. At this point, George says there is not enough money for a Just Energy Transition. 113-and-a-half-billion-rand. That's how much the police department has to spend on crime fighting measures over the next financial year. Minster Senzo Mchunu says this will be used to Modernise ICT infrastructure, reduce violent crime and enhance police visibility. Mchunu aims to reduce the percentage of contact crimes reported by 14.5% over the medium term. Parents at Noordgesig Secondary School in Soweto are frustrated with overcrowding in the classrooms. They are demanding more mobile classrooms. Inspectors shut down 13 classrooms that contained asbestos. And several other classes were damaged by a fire last year. Bereaved families came together to mourn the loss of 11 pupils who died in a scholar transport crash in Carletonville last week. The minibus taxi transporting the pupils overturned and caught fire after being hit by a bakkie from behind. A Johannesburg nurse and her gardener accused of allegedly killing a domestic worker appeared in court today. The case was postponed to next Monday 22 July.
