It’s a little over a hundred days since Gauteng Provincial Police Commissioner, Tommy Mthombeni, took office. He says despite a rise in violent crime, police are winning the war. At least 51 officers have been arrested in the province since March. They face charges ranging from corruption to rape and murder. Have you been inundated with offers from Shein and Temu. Their prices sometimes seem too good to be true. Well, it may be because of how they deal with tax and customs duties. The Chinese online retailers are accused of cheating the system by breaking up large orders to pay lower fees. They are now set to face new tax regulations. The family of a 25 year old Malmesbury factory worker say they're devastated over his death. Ncebazakhe Tshisa succumbed to his burn wounds, which were caused by an explosion at the Quantum Foods mill. An investigation into the cause of the blast is underway. Water and Sanitation Minister, Senzo Mchunu, wants municipalities to prioritise water infrastructure instead of salaries. Mchunu was speaking at the opening of this year's Water Institute of SA Conference. KwaZulu-Natal has been facing persistent supply issues, and Gauteng is now being warned of a total collapse. Life is returning to normal for flood-affected Eastern Cape residents. In the Buffalo City Metro, the municipality says over a thousand displaced people are moving out of community halls they were sheltering in. The concern, however, is the huge burden those who provide aid and shelter could face if communities continue to find themselves in flood hotspot areas. Survivors of a tornado in Othongathi, KwaZulu-Natal are asking for more psychological help in order to deal with the trauma of what they witnessed. About twelve people are confirmed to died during the disaster. Houses, schools, clinics and infrastructure have also been severely damaged.
