The Central Bank-accredited GnuGrid Credit Reference Bureau is reporting a significant shift in the attitude of authorized Tier Four microfinance institutions regarding the sharing of financial data. David Opiyo, the Executive Director of the agency, has revealed that more than one hundred institutions are now formally registered and actively sharing credit data. National Drug Authority- NDA has seized boxes of government-issued ARV drugs valued at 300 million Ugandan shillings from smugglers in Nansana. The suspects include a one, Ronald, Mumbere Godfrey, and Mwesigwa Godfrey, who were arrested during the raid in Nansana municipality.

Microfinance support center has distributed eighty smart silos storage facilities to farmer groups in Chekwii County, Nakapiripirit district. The storage facilities are aimed at enhancing food security and supporting economic resilience in Karamoja Sub region.

Government of Uganda has announced plans to construct regional exhibition centers across the country that will be dedicated to showcasing and selling products made by beneficiaries of the Emyooga program. The announcement was made by Minister of State for Microfinance, Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo, during the MSC Bazaar exhibition held at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara.

The Ministry of Education is urging parents to work harder to feed their children in schools, as this has a major impact on learning outcomes. While receiving a classroom block donated by audit Firm Grant Thornton to Namulonge Church of Uganda Secondary School, Education State Minister Dr John Chrysostom Muyingo warned that there was progress in educating children, but many of them were hungry at school. The 2024 Digital Impact Awards Africa, alongside the Digital and Financial Inclusion Summit, has taken place in Kampala. Organized by HiPipo and officiated by State Minister for ICT, Hon. Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo, the event provided a platform to champion Digital Inclusion, Financial Inclusion, and Cyber Security.

The Basongora community in Kasese District continues to grapple with a severe water crisis that disrupts their daily lives and poses significant challenges to their health and livelihoods. The pressing concerns were raised by the Basongora King, His Royal Highness Ndahura II Kashagama, during a discussion platform organized by Wemnet Uganda (Water and Environment Media Network Uganda) in partnership with other stakeholders.

Stakeholders in Bugisu sub region want an inquiry into actions of some RDCs who are said to have steered land conflicts. During the closing day of the engagement in Busoga-Bugisu region consultations, participants blamed RDCs for being involved in the improper allocation and sell of land. The engagements were convened by the Ministry of Lands.
