On Monday, city cleaners in Kampala protested outside the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) over unpaid salaries for the past four to six months. Cassava farmers across Teso Region are counting losses following a drastic drop in demand and price of cassava since February this year. The government has commissioned the construction of Namagumba ,Badadiri ,Nalugugu road in Sironko district in Eastern Uganda. The Prime minister of Uganda Robinah Nabbanja commissioned the road construction on behalf of president Yowerri Kaguta Museveni. The 39 kilometre road once completed is expected to boost trade and Tourism to Mt Elgon National Park.

Kampala Capital City Authority has partnered with ABSA bank Uganda to restore 30 acres of forest cover at KCCA agricultural center in Kayanja Wakiso district. This tree planting exercise has at the commemoration of the international environment day and 30,000 trees are expected to be planted under this collaboration.

The Uganda Revenue Authority has highlighted on the negative propaganda against the EFRIS waiver exercise which has discouraged many traders from benefiting from this affirmative action window. The authority’s head of corporate affairs Ibrahim Bbosa says out of the 3,500 expected traders only 2,121 have turned to apply for EFRIS penalty waiver. The exercise of waiving EFRIS penalties has been concluded at different URA offices across the country.

As global warming continues to harm the environment, industrialists have been blamed for contributing to the increase in greenhouse gas emissions. Back home, Nile Breweries, which operates plants in Kampala, Jinja, and Mbarara districts, has entered a 2 billion shillings partnership with conservationists at the World Wide Fund in the restoration of water bodies supposedly depleted by industrialists. Donors are advising the government to employ fair and effective methods to strengthen the country’s domestic revenue mobilization efforts in the face of dwindling external financing and resources to fund essential public services, infrastructure development, and more.
