The Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda, Michael Atingi-Ego, admits that while there are interventions to stimulate the demand for loans to the private sector, growth has been slowing at a rate of 7.7% in the fiscal quarter to January 2024, down from 8.4% in October 2023. He adds that this could be a result of a government crowding-out effect in light of sourcing financing for initiatives such as Emyooga and the Parish Development Model, funds that would otherwise be accessed throughout the banking ecosystem. Sectors that have been affected as a result include manufacturing, business services, and personal loans in the three months to October 2023. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda

Governance experts say the address on corruption by President Museveni at Thursday's State of the Nation Address will likely be a repetition of rhetoric. They say the effect of any new strategies the president might unveil in his address will have an unseen effect comparable to the march he led in Kampala against corruption in 2019. They caution that the indecisiveness by the government against corruption risks lowering the rate of direct foreign investments and further crippling the economy through sanctions. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda
