Police Taekwondo Club has emerged as champions of the Korean Ambassador Taekwondo Cup which has ended today at the MTN Arena in Lugogo. The two-day tournament has been graced by 300 participants from different clubs including fighters from Kenya. In Golf, Peace Kabasweka emerged the first winner of the Mbale Ladies Golf Open this weekend. Over 100 ladies turned up for the competition even from cross-border neighbours Kenya. On October 18, 1964, the Uganda Martyrs were proclaimed Saints by Pope Paul VI at St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Italy. This was after a long process that began in 1906 with the recovery of the relics of Charles Lwanga and Matia Mulumba at Nalukolongo. However, the Martyrs needed to perform at least two miracles before they could be declared saints. The Minister of State for Microfinance, Haruna Kasolo, has announced that all Emyooga Savings and Credit Cooperatives will receive additional funding from the government. Each Emyooga SACCO is set to receive an extra twenty million shillings, aimed at empowering communities and fostering economic growth and development. During a monitoring visit organized by the Microfinance Support Centre to evaluate the progress of Emyooga SACCOs in the Sebei, Bugisu, and Bukedi sub-regions, it was plain that the program is making significant strides among the communities.

Vice President Jessica Alupo is in Seoul, South Korea to represent Uganda at the Korea Africa Summit that opens on Tuesday. Alupo, who was delegated there in the absence of President Museveni, says Uganda is looking forward to cooperating with Korea in the sectors of mineral, industrialization, tourism, and ICT. The Vice President will today hold bilateral talks with South Korea's Prime Minister, Han Duck Soo.
