A new report indicates that there is a continued lack of trust between civil society organizations and regulators, driven mainly by a lack of clear coordination and communication. This was highlighted through findings shared at this year's edition of the Talk to Your Regulator symposium, which brought together civil society leaders and officials from the National NGO Bureau, the Financial Intelligence Authority, KCCA, Uganda Registration Services Bureau, and the Uganda Revenue Authority. The Executive Director at the Network for Public Interest Litigation, Dr. James Nkuubi, presented the report. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda
Kikuube District Council has rejected a proposal to levy local revenue on sugarcane out-growers. The proposal was introduced by members of the District Executive Committee and the technical staff who are looking for means of increasing local revenue. They had proposed a levy of 20,000 shillings on each truck of cane from an out-grower. During the District Council meeting held at the District Headquarters, councilors opposed the tax, arguing that since sugar cane companies pay local service tax, it would be double taxation to levy trucks that transport sugarcane from farmers. #NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition Subscribe to Our Channel For more news visit http://www.ntv.co.ug Follow us on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/ntvuganda Connect with us on Messenger via m.me/NTVUganda
