Dr. Charles Olaro, the director curative services at the Ministry of Health says through Self-care approach, individuals, families and communities will be empowered to take charge of their health thereby reduce on the disease burden in the country.

Women and the Youth leaders in Kikuube district have formed a forum aimed at promoting human rights, environmental protection and also fighting corruption in the Public Service Sector. They say they intend to move from one house to another, delivering information about the dangers of environmental degradation, rights violations, and corruption. The Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo codenamed "Operation Shujaa," have captured a commander of the Allied Democratic Forces terrorist group by the name of Anywari Al Iraq, also known as AA. According to the army, Anywari, an expert in improvised explosive devices or IEDs, is a native of Busia district in Eastern Uganda. Residents in Mpigi District and health experts are concerned over the rising cases of oral diseases among children and adults. This follows a medical camp by Nkozi Hospital in the area, which exposed many cases, most of them attributed to poor dental hygiene in Mpigi communities due to a shortage of equipment in the region's health facilities. A total of 10 groups of youth entrepreneurs selected from the 5 divisions of Kampala have won cash grants of 5000 US dollars each to help them grow their businesses. The youths won the grants from Wezesha Impact, a non-government organization that help to skill and support African youth to thrive as job creators.
The Joint Staff Chief Engineering, Brig Gen Besigye Bekunda, has implored combat engineers and explosive experts to maintain discipline and keep upgrading to reach the zenith of their army careers. Close to five hundred catholic pilgrims from Nebbi Diocese who begun the trek to Namugongo earlier this week have entered the fourth day trekking the journey. This Saturday night the team has arrived in Kigumba in Kiryandongo district where they will spend a night before setting off for Sunday journey which is expected to drop them at Kafu.
Police in Busia District are holding 12 family members, including a 3 weeks baby, who rejected to be enumerated in the ongoing National Population and Housing Census. Wandera Collins, the Enumerator together with Kiwanuka Ben LC I Chairperson for Bumirambako village, Buwembe parish, Buyanga Sub County in Busia District, met strong resistance after a man and his family members refused to be counted as the Uganda Bureau of Statistics embarked on the National Population and Housing Census across the Country May 10.
President Museveni has made changes in the Police High Command, naming former Director of Counter Terrorism Abasi Byakagaba as the new Inspector General of Police and James Ocaya as the Deputy Inspector General of Police. The changes have led to the recalling of several UPDF members from the police, with the exceptions of AIGP Brig. Christopher Ddamulira, the Crime Intelligence Director, and AIGP Tom Magambo, the Criminal Investigations Director. The recalled UPDF officers include Maj. Gen. Tumusiime Katsigazi, the former Deputy IGP, and Brig. Gen. [AIGP] Godfrey Golooba, who has been the Director of Human Resource Development.

The President of the National Unity Platform Party, Robert Kyagulanyi, has appealed to party members to be understanding regarding some of the decisions he has made in recent days. The call came after some publicly expressed concern over his decision to suspend the party's Vice President for Buganda, Mathias Mpuuga. The matter came to light when Kimaanya Kabonera MP, Dr. Abed Bwanika, expressed concern that the party president was unfairly cutting short the careers of some party leaders without due process. The accusation came during a funeral for party member Pascal Ssekasamba, a brother to former Bukoto South MP Mathias Nsubuga, in Lwengo district.
