Several of the support personnel for the businesses in the Central Business District have been left stranded by the temporary closure of the businesses. The business owners have dedicated the day to a meeting with President Museveni to iron out the outstanding tax disputes. In south western Uganda, heavy rains have devastated roads and bridges in Kyanamira Sub-county in Ndorwa East, Kabale District. River Kiruruma burst its banks damaging roads and farmlands. Dr. Hamlet Kabushenga has vowed to appeal against the ruling by judge Ann Mugenyi. In a ruling, judge Mugenyi gave MMAKS advocates a leeway to represent Great Lakes Region University and CHIFCOD social enterprise Limited, in the suit filed by Kirima Limited, and four others against Dr. Hamlet Kabushenga.
The ministry of education and sports has started regional consultations on harmonization of TVET qualification framework for the East African Community. In the Northern region stakeholders’ engagement at Uganda Technical College Lira, the commissioner TVET Loy Muhwezi reiterated that this will reduce on qualification disparities and widen the job market for produced professionals.
Road transport means have been named highest air pollutants in Uganda, which has contributed to about 30,000 annual deaths of air pollution related cases. This was revealed by Barirega Akankwasa, the Executive Director NEMA in Kampala during the awareness campaign of air quality week set to begin from 6th to 10th May 2024.
